Elsie Johnson
JOHNSON, ELSIE MAE - Elsie M. Johnson of Canterbury, NB passed away August 8, 2011 at the home of sister Elaine. Born at Canterbury, NB in 1932, she was a daughter of the late David and Glenna (Lutwick) Johnson. Elsie graduated from Canterbury High School and later from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1954 and worked in hospitals in Ontario, Alberta and Saint John, NB. From 1956-58, she also attended Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta. Elsie was the most caring and loving person you could ever meet. She would and did everything humanly possible to help people. Family, friends and doing work for God was very important in her life. Elsie is survived by two sisters, Elaine Watson, Canterbury, NB and Ellen Buckingham, Fredericton, NB; two brothers, Curtis Johnson (Sharon), Skiff Lake, NB and Sheldon Johnson (Sheila), Welsford, NB; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Johnson, Canterbury, NB; a brother-in-law, Aleph Poirier, Ontario; an aunt, Myrtle Yerxa; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Elsie was predeceased by a sister, Iona Poirier; two brothers, Owen Johnson and infant Andrew; two brothers-in-law, William (Bill) Watson and Arden Buckingham; several aunts and uncles.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Yerxa officiating. Interment at Skiff Lake Cemetery.
