PICTOU - Milton George “Mick” Burke, 76, of Cottage Street, Pictou, died September 29, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late Edward and Stella (Vigneault) Burke.
Milton was a lifelong resident of Pictou and worked at G.J. Hamilton & Sons until its closing. He served on the CSS Cartier and CSS Baffin with the Canadian Hydrographic Service before joining Northumberland Ferries, until retirement in 1994.
He is survived by his brothers, William (Jo), Penticton B.C.; Edward (Geraldine), Pictou; sister, Marjorie (Robert) Pictou; step-son, Edward C. Lyons, Scotsburn; grandchildren: Edward, Crystal and Samantha; great-grandchildren: Brianna, Austin, and Sieanna.
Milton was predeceased by his wife, Agnes (Lyons) Burke; brother, Harold; sisters, Jean Ann and Margaret.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. A public graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the Stella Maris Parish Cemetery, Pictou, with Father Ray Huntley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Milton’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
