August 1, 1927 – August 8, 2011: Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on August 8, 2011, Bernard Carew, age 84 years. Served almost 50 years in the public service with the Provincial Government in several positions including; the Department of the Auditor General; Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance; and finally retiring in 1992 as Comptroller General. Predeceased by his parents Augustus Monroe and Mary Ellen Carew; brother Frank; and sister-in-law, Julie. Deeply missed by his wife Marie; son, Fred (Andrea Kemp); daughters: Janet (Derek Pedro) and Lois Haycock (Stephen); two grandchildren: Dylan and Christopher Haycock; sister, Sylvia Keeping; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers and friends. Special thanks are extended to the staff at 4 North A, Health Sciences Centre and 3rd floor of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Anglican Cathedral.
