Evelyn Margaret Holmevik of Prince Albert, SK passed away on Sept. 26, 2009 at the age of 79 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Evelyn was born February 1, 1930 at Hagen, SK to parents Edna and Raymond Evans. In 1951 she married Haakon Holmevik and together they raised four children. She wore many hats; that of a farm wife, waitress, maid, store clerk and caretaker of a summer lodge. Throughout her life and even through her illness she remained a hard worker, great cook, loving wife and fantastic mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her children Roger (Linda) Holmevik, Donald Holmevik, Debbie (Mike) Zapotoczny and Bonnie Holmevik (Brian and children Aaron and Temesha Lemecha); seven grandchildren Michelle (Kevin) Friesen, Michael Holmevik, Jordan and Julianna Zapotoczny, Trevor and Travis Inglehart, Taylor Lemecha; three great grandchildren Matthew, Colton and Logan Friesen; four brothers Mervin (Lorraine) Evans, Louie (Darlene) Evans, Gordon Evans and Reggie Evans; four sisters Eleanor McConnell, Jean (Dennis) Halvorson, Rose Giesbrecht and Muriel (Herb) Giesbrecht; brothers-in-law Ford Lindbloom and Garnet Pederson; sister-in-law Jeannie Evans; two sisters-in-law in Norway Ester and Synna Holmøyvik; as well as many numerous nieces and nephews in both Canada and Norway. She was predeceased by her husband Haakon Holmevik; her parents Edna and Raymond Evans and in-laws Hanna and Hans Holmøyvik; two brothers Howard Evans and Arthur Evans; four sisters Marjorie (Art) Fjeld, Hazel Lindbloom, Lillian (Bill) Prost and Esther Pederson; her in-laws in Norway Inga, Asta (Sverre), Olav (Ester), Oddmund and Sigurd; as well as one niece in Canada and one in Norway. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dan Haugen officiating. Interment will be held at Birch Hills Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
