At the Prince County Hospital Summerside, on Wednesday Aug. 10, 2011 of Velda R. Wood of Travellers Rest aged 88 years. Born in Travellers Rest on April 22, 1923, the last surviving member of the family of the late Daniel and Maude (Harkness) Rayner. Wife of R. Lloyd Wood. Mother of Rena (Douglas) Profitt, Lower Freetown; Ruby (Everett) Baglole, Sherbrooke; Garth (Anne) Wood, Travellers Rest; Gordon (Dale) Wood, Travellers Rest. Grandmother of Kevin Baglole (Kim Skiffington), David Baglole, Lisa (Derek) MacDonald, Karen (Billy) Steele, Kent Wood (Patty Perrin), Sherri (Andrew) Blodgett, Melanie (Joel) McDermaid and Lauralee Wood (Chuck Cizek). Great-grandmother of Michael, Natasha, Brooke, Connor, Carter, Kristen, Chad, Colin, Madison, Regan, Lily and Paetyn. Sister-in-law of Luella Cotton, Pearl Thompson, Velda MacDonald, Evelyn (Keith) Callbeck and John (Olive) Wood. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters and brothers Ruby (John) MacInnis, Laura (Bob) Champion, Irene Wright MacNeill (Art Wright, Allie MacNeill), Verna (Clarence) Doyle, Standford (Myrtle) Rayner, Blanche (George) Carr, Alfred Rayner and Olive (Sidney) Murray. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Saturday at the North Bedeque United Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment in People’s Cemetery, Summerside.
