It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Ken Lynds, on September 30, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer, at age 61. Born in Moose Jaw on February 11, 1948, he attended Camlachie and Briercrest Schools. In 1969 Ken bought a farm/ranch with his brothers Woody and Vern. He had a great love of cattle and horses, and after 40 years the farm/ranch was sold and he and his brothers retired to Moose Jaw. Ken was an avid sports fan and in 2009 he watched the Riders from the 8 yard line, seat 31, row 9, with season tickets that he had won. Ken was predeceased by his parents Jean and Archie Lynds, brother Ron, sister Mary Ellen Powell, brother-in-law Arne Field, three nieces and one nephew. Left to cherish Ken’s memory are his brothers, Elwood, Vern, and Mel (Eleanor); sisters, Mabel (Gerald) Howes, Ruby Elaine Field, Alice (Reg) Sedman, and Bettejean Lynds; brother-in-law Duane Powell; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Miroslav Jancewizc, and nurse Mary at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic. Also special thanks to Dr. Ben VanHeerden and the First Floor nurses at Moose Jaw Union Hospital for the excellent care he received in his final days. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Monday October 5, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Glenys Grosenick will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, S4T 1A5, or to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3, would be appreciated.
