On September 25th, Kenneth Edwin Burnside passed away in his 85th year.

He will be remembered and greatly missed by his two daughters, Donna Burnside (Jim Hearnden) of Edmonton and Judy Bregoliss of Kamloops; son-in-law, Steve Bregoliss of Kamloops; his three grandchildren Shana (Chris) Semrick of Nanaimo, Kristin Bregoliss of Vancouver and Ron Bregoliss of Kamloops; his very special friend Kay Hankewich and his brother Vern of Dunchurch, Ontario.

He is also survived by his step-children and their families; Guy (Marilyn) Pouliot, Adele (Laurier) L\'Abbe, Lizanne (Larry) Olliffe, Celine Pouliot, Yvan Pouliot and Leo (Melanie) Pouliot.

Ken was predeceased by his wife Gisele and by his former wife Hope. He was also predeceased by his parents William and Irene Burnside of Parry Sound, Ontario and by his sisters Florence, Isobel Nichols, Gladys Maki and Elsie.

Ken was born in Parry Sound, Ontario and moved to Kamloops in 1948. He was a Conductor with the CNR and elected to several local and provincial positions with the United Transportation Union throughout his career. He retired in 1981 after 42 years of service.

Ken was active in various sports, participating in Seniors Mixed Curling, McArthur Island Lawn Bowling, Square Dancing and was a lifetime member of the Kamloops Target Sports Association. He enjoyed traveling, as well as boating and camping in the Shuswap.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Bantock and the staff of Ponderosa and Ridgeview Lodge for their care and support.

A Celebration of Ken\'s life will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel with Canon Jack Phelps officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 203 - 635 Victoria Street, Kamloops, BC, V2C 2B3 or a charity of your choice.
