Janice Cecilia Quigley

Passed peacefully away in Victoria B.C. on July 13, 2011, Janice Cecilia Quigley, aged 57 years, after a courageous battle with cancer, one which inspired family, friends and medical team alike. Originally from Bell Island, NL, Janice was the successful owner of Hamburger Heaven in St. John’s for many years. She had a passion for travelling and worked in, and visited, many places around the world. Janice is predeceased by her father Peter Quigley (1988) and brother Myles Quigley (2001). Leaving to mourn her dear mother and best friend Glenna Quigley (Tucker); brothers: Edward in Ajax, ON, Christopher, Neil and Craig (Leeann) in St. John’s, NL; sisters: Marilyn Opalinski (Paul) in Paris, ON, Colleen Cormier (Paul) in Beaver Bank, NS; Lorna Quigley (Corrado Fermo) in Toronto, ON; her longtime close friend Judith Kelsey in Victoria, B.C.; a large number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many others whose lives she touched over the years, especially a number of friends and students in Ishinomaki, Japan, where Janice, after acquiring her Applied Linguistics degree in Victoria, taught ESL for the last six and a half years of her life prior to her sudden diagnosis with cancer in December of 2010. Cremation and a service to celebrate Janice’s life were held in Victoria, B.C. in July. She would like everybody who knew her to kindly donate to the Red Cross Relief Fund for Japan. Janice's ashes are scheduled for burial on Tuesday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the R.C. Cemetery at the Front on Bell Island.
