Philip "Phil" G. Dempsey
DEMPSEY, PHILIP "PHIL" G. - Philip “Phil” G. Dempsey, 61, of Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, August 13, 2011. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Gerald Dempsey of Herring Cove, NS and the late Frances Dempsey. Phil was a loving husband, father, son and brother. Phil was born and raised in Herring Cove, NS. After finishing school he began his working life in the Royal Canadian Air Force. While serving in Gander, NL, Phil met Doreen, his wife of 40 years. For the last 25 years, Phil worked as a realtor in the Greater Moncton area where he was known for his warmth, integrity and timely sense of humour. Throughout his life he mastered many personal challenges and had in recent years developed a passion for health and fitness. For several years prior to his illness, Phil was a well known and avid member of the YMCA. He was a very kind and generous person, quietly offering assistance to the less fortunate. He also loved all animals, especially his faithful canine companion “Chico.” Spending time with his family was very important to Phil and he enjoyed family trips and weekends away. In addition to his father, Phil will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Doreen (Jackman) Dempsey; his precious sons, Jason (Lee), of Upper Coverdale and Adam (Rebecca), of Moncton; brothers, Lorne, of Herring Cove, NS, Stuart (Heather), of Sambro, NS and Gregory, of Herring Cove, NS; sisters, Brenda Dempsey, of Herring Cove, NS and Peggy Wheaton (Dave), of Riverview; also by several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
No visitation by personal request. Funeral service to be held at St. George’s Anglican Church (Church and Queen Street) Moncton, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Reception in the church hall following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements.
