ZELOWSKY – Kathleen Mary (nee McSweeney)
February 11, 1938 – October 2, 2009
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother Kathleen Zelowsky. Mom struggled with numerous health concerns this past year finally succumbing to cancer October 2, 2009. Mom was born February 11, 1938 in Prince Albert to Cornelius and Katherine McSweeney. She spent her life living in and around Prince Albert. Mom attended Catholic schools in Prince Albert for her education. She spent her early years doing typical teenage things such as going to dances. It was at one of these dances that she met a young man named Harry Zelowsky in 1954. Mom and Dad were married February 11, 1956 and moved to the farm at Davis. Mom remained a farm wife for her entire life. In 1962 Mom gave birth to twins David and Darrell. The boys were both a challenge and a joy to her. Mom will always be remembered as a wonderful cook, often found at Osborne school for fall suppers, her gardening and her smile. Mom will always be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Harry Zelowsky; her sons David (Susie) and their children Eryn, Ryan and Tayte and Darrell (Maureen) and their children Rachel and Justin; sister-in-law Betty Zelowsky; brother-in-law Ray Zelowsky and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Cornelius and Katherine McSweeney; in-laws Paul and Lena Zelowsky; brothers-in-law Mike and Orest Zelowsky; sister-in-law Phylis Sansone and in-laws Ivan Stubbs and Edna (Nana) McLennan. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff in Ambulatory Care, Emergency and the 5th Floor Nursing Staff at the Victoria Hospital, as well as Dr. Brits and Dr. Friesen for the wonderful care they took of Mom. A Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009 with Pastor Dennis Serfas, Spiritual Director, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region officiating. Both services will be held at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, 1200 – 24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4.
