PURCHASE, Mildred Madeline - 76, of Kentville, passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Warden and Clara (Richardson) Graves. In her earlier years, she had been employed at the Nova Scotia Sanatorium, Kentville and was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army, Kentville Corps. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all. She is survived by five daughters, Donna (Paul) Brown, Brampton, Ontario; Phyllis (George) Vaters, Kentville; Marlene, Toronto; Darlene (Paul) Reid, Canning; Patricia, Toronto; three sons, Raymond (Laura), Arthur (Kirsten Hatt) and Timothy, all of Kentville; two sisters, Violet (John) Putio, Alberta; Shirley; 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Freeman; three sisters, Annie, Katie and Phyllis; four brothers, Alfred, Jim, John and Arthur. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 in the Salvation Army, Kentville Citadel, Kevin and Pamela Pilgrim officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill.
