MR. DONALD EMERSON GRAY of Moose Jaw passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011 after a short illness. Born June 12, 1937 at the Moose Jaw General Hospital, he was raised at “Fairfield Farm”, his family farm north of Moose Jaw in the Carmel district. He received his education from Carmel District School and then Peacock Technical High School. He lived and worked on the family farm for many years before moving into the city of Moose Jaw in 1984. Though he left the farm – the farm never left him – he always enjoyed going back to plant a garden every year. He was employed with Moose Jaw Heating and Plumbing, retiring after 40 years. Don was an avid sportsman, especially hunting and fishing. He participated in various sports including hockey, baseball, and curling, and belonged to many teams throughout his lifetime. He loved watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Moose Jaw Warriors, holding season tickets for these teams for many years. Predeceased by his grandparents Thomas and Harriet Gray; parents Ralph and Clara Gray, and his special friend of many years Alice Ellert, he is survived by his only sibling Garth (Beverly); nieces Carmen Hicke (Shaun) and grand-niece Clara-May all of Moose Jaw; and niece Caroline Gray (Paul) of Calgary. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery.
