POWER (OWENS), GLORIA JOAN - Gloria Power, 73, of Nelson Miramichi, NB, born in Sheet Harbour, N.S, died peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2011 surrounded by her love ones. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Cora (Parkhouse) Owens and predeceased by daughter Jane & brothers Gerald, Wade and Milton. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Eldon, son Billy (Peggy) of South Esk, NB, son-in-law Larry Carroll of Chatham, NB and grandsons Jacob, Jordan, Matt and Shane; two brothers, Richard (Connie) Newcastle ON, Alex (Edna) Sudbury, ON; eight sisters Isabel (Frank) Rutledge, Hazel (Bernie) Flannigan, Jessie (Merle) Joudrey, Carol (Robert) Lowe, Betty (Rheal) Fraser, Vickie (David) MacDonald, Susan (Tim) McCarthy and Brenda (Jimmy) MacIsaac all of Nova Scotia;l brother in-law Frank (Irma) Power of Bushville, NB, many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. A circle of special friends on the Miramichi that became Gloria and Eldon’s extended family and helped make the Miramichi home. She was a member of St. Andrews & St. Marks Anglican Church. Her family and friends were the love of her life and she enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The Funeral Service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 11 AM with the Venerable Richard Steeves officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. In Gloria’s memory a donation may be made to St. Mark’s Anglican Church or the NB Kidney Foundation.
