Member of First Draft 166th R.A. 970189. Passed peacefully away from the Caribou Veterans Pavilion on August 13, 2011, at the age of 91, Victor LeRoy (Roy) Ash. Predeceased by his first wife Louise White; son Ian; Parents Ernest and Mary; sisters: Jean & Doris; brother Leslie. Left to celebrate his life: daughter Glenys (Robert) Taylor; grandchildren: Danielle (Andrew), Damian (Karen), Ashley (Daniel); great-grandchildren: Kylie & Benjamin; sister Helen Tilley; niece Marylou Malone; daughter-in-law Christine Ash; Predeceased by his second wife Monica (Facey-Flight); also leaving to celebrate his life, extended family: Judith Noseworthy (Ron), and Barbara Flight; step-grandchildren: Andrea, Peter (Paula), David (Theresa); step-great-grandchildren: Claire & Bailee. Roy was founder of Aska Sales Limited in 1947 and Mobile Homes & Trailer Sales Ltd in 1955. He was a long time very dedicated and committed member of the C.L.B. having served actively for more than 75 years. He rose to the rank of Colonel and served as the C.L.B.’s very first Newfoundland and Labrador Governor and Commandant. Since 1986 he has held the position of Honorary Colonel to the C.L.B., Master of his Masonic Lodge St. Andrew in 1957-62. Roy was also a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, a member of Mazol Shrine. A long time member of the Kiwanis Club of St. John’s. A past president of the Kiwanis Music Festival and an active member of St. Michael and All Angels Parish Church. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Monday, August 15th and Tuesday, August 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place from the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow from the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
