Annie Rodina Connors
91, New Waterford
It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Rodina Connors, on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, Oct. 7, 1917, Rodina was the daughter of the late Michael and Annie (McMullin) MacMullin.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her whole life to taking care of her family. Rodina was a member of the parish of Mount Carmel. She was a great lady who will be so missed. Ma loved playing bingo and a good game of cards. She also spent numerous hours knitting slippers which she would donate to worthy causes or give to friends. She loved spending her evenings listening to and singing along with Daniel O’Donnell. She particularly loved every Sunday afternoon when her family and friends would gather at her home for good conversations and lots of great laughs.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Euline, Judy (Joe), Fred (Anita) and Lorne. She was fondly known as ‘Nannie Goat’ to her five precious grandchildren, Wanda, Shauna (Dale), Trevor (Mira), Freddy (Marcie), Judi (Freddie) Hutchison and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Katie Muise, Effie Duggan, Peggy Brescia and a brother, Frankie.
Besides her parents, Rodina was predeceased by her husband, Fred Connors, brother, Roddie and sisters, Katherine and Mary.
At Ma’s request, there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral Mass for Rodina, officiated by Fr. Doug MacDonald will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of Saint Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue, New Waterford. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. All are invited to a reception at the Carmel Centre.
In memory of Rodina, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
