Mr. Lum Low of Burnaby, BC passed away suddenly on August 15, 2011 at the age of 80 years.

He is survived by his wife Moi Yip Liu and his four children: Tom (Stella), Susan (Patrick), Lorrie (Randy), Tony (Patricia) and his seven grandchildren: Derek, Jason, Ryan, Rebecca, Brady, Olivia and Maya.

Mr. Low was born February 5, 1931 in Toishan, China. In 1946 he married Moi Yip Liu in China. In hopes of making a better life for him and his family, he left China in 1955 and came to Canada. He first worked in Vernon as a farmer and in 1956 he moved to Kamloops where he worked in a Chinese Restaurant as a kitchen helper and then as a cook.

In 1967, he worked hard to get his family to Canada from Hong Kong and once here Mr. Low and his family made their home in Vernon. In 1972, him and his family moved to Merritt, where he started his own restaurant. Mr. Low and his family relocated back to Kamloops in 1976, where he operated the Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Low and his wife moved to Vancouver in 1996 and have lived there since.

Mr. Low was a kind and generous person. He would do anything for his family and friends. Everybody called him Mr. Nice Guy: (In Chinese Lau Wong Suk). Mr. Low also had a very good sense of humor and loved to make everybody laugh. He liked to help people and would take the shirt off his back for his friends. He loved his family; his seven grandchildren were his pride and joy. He lived his life to the fullest. He loved food and enjoyed cooking for his family.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
