THORBURN: Robert James Thorburn, age 81 years. of Swift Current, SK, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. The funeral service was held at The Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 3:30 P.M., with Father James Owolagba of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church officiating. The pallbearers were grandchildren: Keagan Hansvall, Braden Thorburn, Tommy Thorburn, Steph Elliott, Tina Thorburn, Richard Elgar and Kevin Elgar. Robert is survived by his wife Pat; step-daughter Kathy Johnson (Brad), daughter Brenda Thorburn (Bruce Cartman), a son Danny Thorburn (Sylvia), a daughter MaryAnne Thorburn, grandchildren: Richard Elgar (Kristia), Kevin Elgar, Derrick Elgar, Steph Elliott (Peter), Keagan Hansvall, Braden Thorburn, Jerrilee Okemaysim, Tommy Thorburn and Tina Thorburn; a brother Bill Thorburn (Joan) and numerious nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was predeceased by his father George Thorburn; his mother Mary Thorburn and a sister Margaret Schwean. He was born at Milestone, SK on July 1, 1930. He attended school at Milestone and was united in marriage to Pat Behm on August 21, 1971. Robert was employed and worked on the farm at Herbert,SK. for his brother-in-law for many years, then retired to reside in Swift Current. He loved fishing, boating, playing and watching hockey, watching the Roughriders and the Blue Jays on TV, and going for his daily walks to the Pioneer C0-0P. He loved animals, especially his Bull Dogs and Labradors. He loved when his children would bring over their dogs to visit with grandpa. He was a hard worker, who would go out of his way to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. The family would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors at the ICU department at Cypress Regional Hospital for taking care of him, and for everyone for their kind words and compassion at the time of our father's passing.
