MCLAUGHLIN, R. MELVIN - 1920 - 2011 - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear dad, R. Melvin McLaughlin, 91 of Miramichi and most recently of Riverview on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Nelson Miramichi, he was the son of the late Robert and Mabel (Mackenzie) McLaughlin. Mel worked at NB Power for 45 years prior to retirement. He was a member and Past Master of the Northumberland Lodge No. 17 F&AM, Past District Deputy Representative for Grand Lodge District #3, a member of the Ancient and Scottish Rite and the Luxor Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Miramichi Shrine Club. Everyone who knew him will remember him as a gentleman, a patient, loving, humorous individual with a smile you could never forget. He is survived by his wife Connie (Woods), son, Bob (Doreen) of Riverview, daughters; Ann Seamans (Skip) of Riverview and Peggy Elabi (Moe) of Egypt; nine grandchildren; Janis, Kerry, Karla, Jamie, Mark, Kareem, Tamir, Rommy and Reema and his 13 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his 1st wife Betty 1995, sister Greta, brothers; Allan and Murdock.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, (869-2007), on Saturday, August 20, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, with a Masonic Service to be held at 12:45 PM from the funeral home. The funeral service to be held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Miramichi, on Sunday, August 21, at 4:00 pm, with the Reverend Richard Steeves officiating, with the
interment to take place in the Miramichi Cemetery. Donations made to the
Shriner's Hospital for Sick Children or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Online
