Rose Catherine (Webb) (Selkirk) Stone
1919-2009
Rose Catherine Stone of Amherst and formerly of Springhill passed away
on October 1, 2009, just ten days prior to her 90th birthday. Born
October 11, 1919 in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late
Gordon and Catherine (O'Neil) Webb.
Rose grew up and lived most of her life in Springhill, NS and worked
in Amherst for the NS Power Corporation for 25 years. She was a
resident of Centennial Villa, Amherst for the past seven years.
Rose was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church; a Sunday school
teacher; a member of Willing Workers; a Dominion Life Member of the
Beth Crossman Women's Missionary Society; a former member and Honorary
Member of the Cobequid Chapter IODE; a former Rotarian and Honorary
Member of the Springhilll Club; a former member of the Springhill
Seniors Club and Nova Scotia Government Retired Employees Association.
She had a smile for everyone, a pleasant nature and a big heart.
Rose is survived by one son, Robert (Brenda) Selkirk and a
stepdaughter Paulette (Stone) Hickey (Ross); grandchildren Christopher
and Marsha Selkirk; step grandchildren Sandra (John) Beukebeld and
Peggy Sue (Charles) Sandier; two great grandchildren, two step great
grandchildren and three nephews. She was predeceased by her first
husband Walter L. Selkirk; her second husband Aubrey J. Stone; a
sister Anna Casey and a brother James Webb.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A.H. Brown Funeral
Service, Springhill (902-597-2361). Visitation will be held 7-9 pm
Monday, October 5, 2009 with a funeral service from the funeral home
at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2009. Burial to follow in the
Hillside Cemetery.
Donations in Rose's memory can be made to the Springhill Baptist
Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
