CAMPBELL, LOIS IRENE - 1932 - 2011- Lois Irene Campbell passed away peacefully in Moncton City Hospital Thursday, August 18, 2011, in her 80th year. Born March 31, 1932, in Saint John to the late Ernest and Myrtle (Noddin) Campbell, Lois is survived and will be sadly missed by beloved sisters Beryl (Tony Hodgson) of Huntsville, Ontario and Violet (Arnold Hodgson) of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and brother Gordon (Barbara) of Peterborough, Ontario, and sisters-in-law Pat and Cheryl. She is further survived and lovingly remembered by many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Lois was predeceased by sister Helen and brothers David (Pat Launders, Saint John) and George (Cheryl Steeves, Shawville, Que.). After graduating high school and Fredericton Normal College, Lois taught for many years in Lorneville, Perth Andover, and Moncton. She later completed her Bachelor of Arts/Major in Music degree at Mount Allison University. An accomplished teacher and educator both in and out of the classroom and an excellent music director, Lois downplayed most of her musical and educational accomplishments, yet her achievements in these two areas were far from modest. Lois was known for her good cheer, optimism, dry sense of humour, strong sense of family, and, most of all, her many luncheons and pot lucks for the seniors with whom she was involved in her various volunteer organizations, such as the Idlehour Fellowship of First Baptist church where she conducted the Bell Choir, the Dr. Zella Clark WMS Group, and various choirs.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held at the Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, on Monday, August 22, 2011. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with service at 2:30 and reception to follow. Entombment will take place in Saint John at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. We would like to thank all of the staff at the Moncton City Hospital for their care and support during Lois' brief stay in hospital.
