Mildred Marshall, 74 of 155 Tupsi Dr., Membertou, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by family.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Isabel (Paul) (Marshall) Fillmore.
She was a member of St. Anne’s Mission Church and St. Anthony Daniel parish. Mildred was an avid and talented knitter who shared her passion with everyone. She also loved to go travelling, watching her soaps and especially her ‘occasional’ visits to the casino.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverley Cole, Port Hope, Ont.; three sons, Allison ‘Allie’ (Evelyn) Cole, Pickering, ON, William (Sharon) Cole, Corbyville, ON, Carl (Jeannie) Best, Toronto, ON; three sisters, Anita (Jim) Witty, Ajax, ON, Marion (Tony) Davis, Victoria, BC, Kathlyn Knockwood, Membertou; a brother, Paul (Millie) Marshall, Mt. Vernon, Ohio; four grandchildren, Wally, Alexander, Terry, Melanie; two great-grandchildren, Linnea and Tyler; by her two aunts and ‘best friends’, Ruth Christmas and Delores Buckland, her uncle, Lawrence Paul Sr. and by numerous extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allison ‘Allie’ Cole in 1989 and her brother, David Knockwood.
Ms. Marshall will have visitation on Tuesday after 7 p.m. at her residence of 155 Tupsi Dr., Membertou. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Anne’s Mission Church, Membertou or to a charity of choice.
