MR. LOUIS MAUVIEUX
October 20, 1927 – October 3, 2009
Louis Daniel Mauvieux passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Saturday, October 3, 2009. The late Louis Mauvieux was born on the farm in a small French community called Titanic (located west of Duck Lake). Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 from St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 589 – 9th Street East - by Father Maurice Fiolleau. Louis is survived by his son Jean; his sister Amelie (Bud) Houle both of Prince Albert; his sisters-in-law Armande (Vic) Fauchoux, Aline Grimard both of Prince Albert, Lucie (Louis) de Montarnal of Debden; his brother-in-law Omer (Laurine) Como of Rosthern; his numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Marie-Ange (nee Como) in 2001; his son Paul and an infant daughter Claire; his parents Jean Baptiste and Marie Mauvieux; sister Reine Ortmann; his brother Eugene Mauvieux; his mother and father-in-law Pierre and Clara Como; his sister-in-law Denise Mauvieux; his brothers-in-law Joe Schmidt, Jake Ortmann, Daniel Turgeon, Gaston Grimard, Gerry Como; his niece Suzanne Mauvieux; his nephew Perry Como. Louis married Marie-Ange Como on January 3, 1957 in Duck Lake. His trucking business had him and his small family relocating to different locations. Finally in 1966 they bought a house in Prince Albert and settled there until his final days. Louis worked long hours in the trucking business so he could financially retire before he turned 65. Louis was an avid sportsman. In his younger days he played softball, golfed, curled and enjoyed playing cards with his trucking buddies. A very dedicated fan of the Prince Albert Raiders Hockey Club. Ever since there was a Communiplex (Art Hauser now) and a Raider Hockey team Louis was one of the first ones at the rink, never missing a game, supporting the team and volunteering in the organization. Louis was also a faithful member of St. Marks Parish. After retirement Louis’ ritual was meeting his coffee buddies in the morning, playing a few games at the Come and Go Bingo, also stopping occasionally at the Casino to play “Let it ride”. Because of his failing health the last few years, he was content to just staying at home and watch all the sports he could on T.V. do a little cooking for himself and Jean and taking many naps. Interment will take place at South Hill Cemetery. It is the family’s request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
