It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Edward Springall, on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, the youngest of eight children, he was the son of the late Robert and Matilda (Delaney) Springall, and was a member of All Saints Anglican Church.
Eddie attended Mt. Carmel School and was a graduate of the Cape Breton Regional Vocational School. In his younger years Eddie worked for his brother Danny at Jake’s and also for Service Taxi, the maintenance department at Burger King and later with J.C. Boiler in Luduc, Alta.
Eddie recently retired, moving back to his beloved Cape Breton Island. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed telling and listening to fishing stories with all his friends at their favourite fishing hole on Plummer Avenue, he also enjoyed a good game of cards, but he will always be remembered as a great family man, Eddie loved spending time with his family.
Eddie will be sadly missed by his sons, Raymond, Sydney, Darrell, New Waterford; brothers, Alfred, John (Hilda), Robert (Shirley), all of Cambridge, Ont.; sisters, Dorothy, Cambridge, Ont., Margaret, Betty, both of New Waterford; sister-in-law, Irene Springall, Victoria Mines; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Eddie was dearly loved and will be missed by all who had the opportunity of knowing him.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Daniel.
In honoring Eddie’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Judi Phillips will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, at All Saints Anglican Church, New Waterford, with interment to follow in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown.
Family flowers only. As an expression of sympathy for Eddie, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Association of Nova Scotia.
