NEWTON, Hazel Frances - 87, of Kentville, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Sheffield Mills, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Lorne and Leah (Burbidge) Blenkhorn. In her early years she worked at Wade's IGA in Kentville, enjoyed camping and later traveled. She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Kenny) Silver, Bridgewater; four grandchildren, Suzanne and Russell Kilcup, Stephanie and Luke Silver; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Sidney "Sid" Kilcup; her second husband, Dennis Newton; a son, Gary Kilcup; a sister, Hulda Kennedy; three brothers, Lawrence, Bev and Robie. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Sterling Gosman officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only, by request.
