RICHARD, ALICE MARY (MUNDLE) - (1928 - 2011) - AMHERST, NS - The death of Alice Mary (Mundle) Richard, 83, of Amherst, NS and formerly of Richibucto, NB occurred on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center in Amherst, NS following a brief illness. Born in Rexton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Allison and Mary Mundle of Mundleville, NB. She attended school in Mundleville and graduated from high school in Richibucto, then worked in the office of A. E. Mundle Co. Alice married Yvon J. Richard in 1952, continuing to do bookkeeping for his business while raising a family. She later worked as a secretary at the School Board Office and Elementary School and in Rexton. Alice moved to Amherst following the death of her husband, Yvon in 2007 to be closer to her daughter and family. She was a member of the United Church of Canada in both Rexton and Amherst, involved in UCW in both communities. She loved to travel and enjoyed watching her three grandsons play sports. Alice was predeceased by her husband; Yvon, and two sisters; Elaine and Helen. She is survived by her daughter; Sharon (Brad) Skinner of Amherst and her son; Jim of Moncton, sisters; Ruth Carruthers of Chapel Point, NB and Lois Richards of Calgary, AB, grandsons; Corey, Tyler and Andrew all of Amherst and many nieces and nephews.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 25th, 2011 at 2:00 pm, St. Andrew’s United Church, Rexton. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (506-523-4252).
