LESLIE, Clayton Alvin - 77, of Kentville, passed away quietly, Saturday morning, August 20, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in West Berlin, Queens County, he was a son of the late Clayton Wilfred and Myrtle (Munroe) Leslie. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Mercer) Leslie; sons, Barry (Celeste Pray), Gaspereau; Daniel (Kathleen), Clarksville; Peter (Rick Conrad), West Berlin; step-daughter, Janice (David Fralic), Halifax; step-son, Paul (Paula), Halifax; grandchildren, Christopher, Braham, Alicia, Ashleen, Nicholas, Jesse, Neil, Michael and Caitlin; a brother, George (Ruby), East Port Medway. He was predeceased by a sister, Edith; brothers, Wilfred and Wallace. Most of Clayton's formal education was acquired in the one-room school house in Eagle Head, Queens County. He entered the workforce at the age of 14 as an apprentice plumber in Halifax. He was most proud of his five year service in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1951-1956. He later taught at Kings Regional Vocational School from 1966 until retiring in 1992. He was an avid hunter and fisher all his life and loved sharing these past times with his children and grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Pamela Bishop officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
