George Scheelhasse

SCHEELHAUSE - George Arthur passed away August 17, 2011 at his home in Cabri at the age of 93 years. George was born on the farm east of the old Cabri ferry sight. He attended Neosha School south of White Bear, Sask. George married Edna Sylvia Olson in June 1941. They lived on the farm until 1948. They then moved to Cabri, SK.
He farmed and did trucking until he moved to Cabri in 1948. Then he became a partner in the garage business with Harvey Peacock selling farm machinery and cars. They also farmed near town. He was a member of the Cabri District Lions Club, the Board of Trade, swimming pool committee, Cabri town council, Cabri Credit Union board, and a director on the board of Saskatchewan Motor Club. George was a great mechanic and loved to play cards and listen to old time fiddle music. He enjoyed going on different holidays over the years as well as hunting and fishing. He loved to be with his children and grandchildren. He went to their various sports, graduations and concerts with the Regina Lions Band. He also loved to play snooker and participated in the Canadian Senior Games in Regina. He delivered Meals on Wheels for years as well as driving the elderly to different cities for doctor's appointments. George is survived by: Cameron (Josie) Scheelhaase and their children George (Audry), Robin (Brad) and Tanys (Dan); Wesley Scheelhaase; Norman Scheelhaase and Philip Scheelhaase and his children Meaghan, Tim, and Tanner; great grandchildren Ken Sauer, Shayann Sauer, Brittany Scheelhaase, Farin Scheelhaase, Gracie Scheelhaase; great great grandchildren Nevaeh and Ayden; brother Raymond Scheelhaase; sister-in-law Eileen Iverson; and special friends Louise and Grant McLeod. He was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Ettie May Scheelhaase; wife Edna (1983); son Kenneth Raymond (1971); and brother Albert Griffith. The memorial service was held from the Cabri Community Hall in Cabri, SK on Monday, August 22, 2011. The interment service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Cabri Hospital Auxiliary or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Culham/Bowers Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
