Ruth Isabel Ellis (nee Jackson)

Peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Monday, August 22, 2011, of Ruth Isabel Ellis (nee Jackson), age 96 years.
Born in North Sydney, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jennie (Ross) Jackson. Upon graduating from Teacher's College, Truro, N.S., in 1935, she taught for two years at Middle River, C.B., one year at Upper North Sydney, and two and one half years at Mabou, C.B. She attended Dalhousie University and later Carleton University.
She married her late husband James Eric Ellis of Donaldston, P.E.I., on December 24, 1940. They lived in: Mabou, C.B.; St. Thomas, ON; Barrie, ON; Moncton, N.B.; Shediac, N.B.; Pictou, N.S.; Halifax, N.S.; returned to St. Thomas, ON; Greenwood, N.S.; Summerside, P.E.I.; Dayton, Ohio; and Ottawa, ON, while raising their family of seven children. In her later years she resided in Charlottetown, P.E.I. For many years she was a member of the Women's Baptist Association and Pleasant Park Baptist Church, Ottawa. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, writing letters to friends and spending time at her cottage in Margaree, C.B. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was dearly loved by family and friends.
Dear mother of Frank (Mary), Ottawa; Hal (Yvonne), Halifax; Ted (Stella), Ottawa; Donald, Gagetown; Elva MacDonald (Gary "Sput"), Charlottetown; and Peter (Sheila), Dartmouth. Loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her sisters, Frances and Elva; brother, Milford; and son, Ross (formerly married to Miriam Boyle of New Haven, P.E.I.).
Resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown, where the service will be held in the chapel Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Pastor David DuBois officiating. Interment in the Donaldston Cemetery. Visitation Monday, August 22, 2011, at Belvedere Funeral Home 7:30-9 p.m.
