Sarah (MacLeod) Matheson, 91, a longtime resident of South Haven and more recently Alderwood Rest Home, passed away Aug. 22, 2011.
She was predeceased in 1998 by her beloved husband, Dan Neil.
Originally from Big Baddeck, Sarah was the daughter of the late Angus C. and Mary (MacMillan) MacLeod.
She is survived by her sisters, Margaret MacPhee, Agnes MacLeod and Lillian MacLean, all of Baddeck, and Marion Stephens, Sydney River; and sisters-in-law, Mae Buchanan and Isabel MacLeod.
Sarah was predeceased by her sister, Mable Salisbury and her brothers, Alexander, Kenneth, James, Roddie A. and two brothers in infancy.
She was a member of Ephraim Scott Presbyterian Church and the A.M.S.
Sarah lived a full and happy life. A woman of strong faith. She gave generously of herself, both at home and in the community; and it was impossible to leave a visit to Sarah’s home without a bag full of baked goods, preserves or fresh vegetables from her garden.
Visitation will take place at MacAskill’s Funeral Home, Baddeck on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ephraim Scott Presbyterian Church, South Haven. Burial will be in Goose Cove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sarah’s memory to either Alderwood Rest Home or Ephraim Scott Church, would be welcome.
