It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donna MacInnis, 58, of Glace Bay. Donna passed away at her residence on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, surrounded by her family after a long, hard fight with cancer this past year.
Born in Harbour View, Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late George and Verna Clarke.
Donna enjoyed all aspects of life and could often be found camping on the beaches of Cape Breton with her husband, Joe, and little dog, Tango. She loved the outdoors all year-round; from ice fishing in the snow to four-wheeling in the rain. As a dedicated home-care worker, she took great joy in working with seniors. Donna was a devoted mother to her children; a loving wife and best friend to her husband and will be sadly missed by all.
Donna will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Joe MacInnis, Glace Bay; daughters, Tena (John), Edmonton, Theresa (Robert), Sydney, Donna (Harold), Sydney Mines; stepdaughter, Kim MacInnis-Robinson (Chris), Ontario; sons, William (Phyllis), North Sydney, Blaine (Nadine), Sydney; brother, Tom (Angie) Clarke, North Sydney; sisters, Debbie (Ambrose), North Sydney, Marilyn, Sydney Mines, Tracy (Alton), Edmonton. Also surviving are 10 cherished grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, George ‘Jed’, Dennis, sister, Johann, former husband, William Robinson.
In honouring Donna’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating.
