Marie LeBlanc

Marie Elizabeth LeBlanc, 76, of Westwood Drive, Pictou, passed away August 22, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Port Elgin, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Belenie and Rebecca (St. Pierre) LeBlanc.
A resident of Pictou since 1944, Marie was a student of the Stella Maris Convent and a 1954 graduate of Pictou Academy. She received her nurse’s training and graduated in June 1957 from the Halifax Infirmary. She began work at the Sutherland-Harris Hospital, Pictou in 1958 and retired after 38 years of nursing. She was also a member of Stella Maris Parish.
Surviving are her only brother, Eric, Pictou; two nieces, Annette (Donald) Ferguson and Susan (Greg) MacDonald, both of Dartmouth; nephew, Michael Chisholm (who she raised as her own); and five grand nieces (whose births she was present for).
Marie was predeceased by four sisters: Elsie Chisholm, Marita, Eileen Germaine, and Annette Doreen LeBlanc.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will take place 2 p.m. Thursday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in St. Clements Parish Cemetery, Port Elgin, New Brunswick on Friday.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
