It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Thelma (Ferguson) MacDonald, on Aug. 22, 2011.
Born, raised and a life-long resident of Florence, she was the daughter of Lemuel and Euphemia Ferguson.
Thelma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She will be missed so very much by her children, Jude (Debbie), Paul, Lowell (Wendy), Roy (Cheryl), Curtis (Daina), Carol Ann (Maurice) Pyke and Michelle (Allan) Brown; her grandchildren, Jude (Brandee), Meaghan (Shane), Chad (Shelby), Riley, Amy (Will), Tara (Brian), Matthew, Chad, Peter, Laura Jayne, Erin Dion, Logan, Andrea, Ryan (Caelin) and Mitchell; her great-grandchildren, Jake, Hadee Mae, Joseph and Jude; sister, Mae (Con) Cantwell and brother, Earl.
She was predeceased her loving husband, Harold ‘Haddie’ MacDonald, brothers, Ronnie and Murray ‘Junior’.
Mom always kept an open door so no one was left out in the cold, she so enjoyed long drives and knew every corner of the island without question, she loved to play bingo enjoying the company of her buddies, she had a strong devotion to her grandkids and always went out of her way to give to others.
Mom, we will forever miss your wit and generous spirit. “We will smile because you have lived, open our eyes and see all that you have left, and cherish your memory and let it live on in your precious children and grandchildren”.
There will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to help celebrate mom’s life at St. Stephen’s Church, Florence on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at 2 p.m. with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
