RIDING, RICHARD - 1943 - 2011 -It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Riding announces his sudden death on August 1, 2011. He was a loving family man, a dedicated professor of biology at UNB for 36 years, and an accomplished amateur musician. He played with numerous local groups, large and small, on violin and tuba. His colleagues enjoyed not only his musical expertise but also his unique sense of humour. Richard was a staunch supporter of the tuba and euphonium and for 8 years directed the Fredericton International TubaFest. He brought top tuba and euphonium players together with enthusiastic amateurs for fun and instructive weekends of music making.
Richard’s family would like to invite you to a Memorial Concert to be held at 7:30, September 2, 2011 in Christ Church Cathedral. Those interested can make a donation to TubaFest 2012, to be held next May in Richard’s honour, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
