It is with great sadness the family of Helen Joan Mason age 67, of Amherst announce her passing on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Salter and Ruth (Turnbull) Patton.
Helen worked as a waitress in various restaurants in the Amherst area and later provided child care for many families.
She is survived by her husband Ernie, one daughter Marlene (Robb) Morse of Amherst, her grandson Mason who was her pride and joy, three step grandchildren James, Robert and Jason, sisters Joyce (Bruce) Snell of New Glasgow, Shirley White, Bev (Bruce) Harrison and Marie Patton all of Amherst, brothers Donnie (June) of Westville, NS, Charlie (Heather) of New Glasgow, Gerald of British Columbia and Bob of Amherst, a special girl who Helen regarded as a granddaughter Lisa (Kevin) Allen of Amherst, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased sisters Betty Pyke, Audrey Lucci and Margaret Fraser and brothers David, Gary and Fred.
Her family will receive visitors at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, (667-9906) on Thursday, October 10, 2009 from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Philip Read officiating.
Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish.
