BLACK, Marjorie Fern — 86, Oxford, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009, in Cumberland Regional Heath Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late G. Lusby and Letitia (Moore) Rector. Marjorie was a graduate of Normal College. After teaching in Rockley, Amherst Point, and Little River, she retired in 1980 after 18 years at the Oxford Regional Elementary School. She was a founding member of the former local I.O.D.E., as well as a former member of the Little River Ladies Circle, the Little River Baptist Church Choir, and and the Oxford Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary. In more recent years, Marjorie enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with her grandchildren. Marjorie is survived by her loving husband of over 65 years, G. Robert Black; son, Tom (Jane), Oxford; daughter, Wendy (Rory Waite), Calgary; grandchildren, Jennifer (Alex) McGregor, St. Johnsbury, Vt.; Robert Black, Acadia University; sister-in-law, June Rector, Oxford. She was predeceased by brother, Newton L. Rector; sister Marilyn Fraser; grandson, William Black. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, October 8, in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main St., Oxford (447-2930). Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 9, in Oxford Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Bert Collins officiating.
