It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Claire Donohue, 76, of Brown's Road Ext., New Victoria, on Aug. 25, 2011 at New Waterford Hospital.
Born in New Victoria, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Cybil (Petrie) Murphy.
Claire was a member of the former St. Joseph Church in New Victoria currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. In earlier years, Claire worked at the Tompkins Centre Daycare in New Waterford and the G.I. Plant in Sydney.
She enjoyed reading, walking, baking and, most importantly, spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughters Ann (Jerry) McEachern, Gail (Henry) Digero, both of New Victoria; son Randy (Susan) Donohue, New Waterford; brother Tom Murphy, British Columbia; sister Carol (Tony) Mulder, British Columbia; brother-in-law, Bob Donohue; sister-in-law Tillie Murphy; grandchildren Tanya, Jerry, Stacey, Laura, Jacqueline, Aaron, and Jordan; great grandchildren, Jessica, Autumn, Selena, Miranda, and Hannah.
Besides her parents, Claire was predeceased by her husband Billy Donohue; brothers Evans Murphy, Delman Murphy; sisters Gerry McInnis, Norma Hyson, Jackie McManus, Claudia Murphy, Theresa Madden and Cybil Ann Murphy.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Claire will be held Monday, August 29 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Father Victor Ozoufuanya officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Victoria, with a luncheon to follow at the Carmel Center in New Waterford.
