STENGLER, Michael (Mike) Anthony
July 14, 1957 – October 2, 2009
Mike was born in Mankota, SK. He grew up on the family farm in Billimun, SK. Mike helped his parents with duties such as milking cows, fencing and the operating of various farm machinery. He attended Pinto Dale School until it closed and then continued his education at Mankota Central High. Mike moved to Swift Current at the age of fifteen and attended Swift Current Composite High School. He returned to Mankota after High School, where he apprenticed for the Ford Dealer. Mike continued working there for ten years repairing vehicles and farm equipment. A part time roofing business was also part of Mike’s construction experience. While living in Mankota, Mike belonged to the Mankota Fire Department. He moved to Airdrie, AB, in 1985 where he started working in the oilpatch – pipeline occupation. His first position in the oilpatch was as a welder’s helper, working his way up to spacer, tractor operator and then foreman. Mike moved to Calgary in 1987. This is where he started his own business operating as M.A.S. Enterprises, as a consultant. His latest passion was building renovations. Mike’s home was always open for the many friends that he met throughout the years. Mike is survived by his brother, Dale; sister-in-law, Marilyn; niece, Candace (Art Burgess); great nephews and nieces, Tristan Stengler, Teyarah, Tessa, Teagan; his sister Joanne Yarham; brother-in-law, Larry; and nephew, Blaine Wallace; as well as his numerous Calgary family of friends. Mike was predeceased by his mother, Deloris Stengler (Glas) in 1969; his father, Clem Stengler in 1988; and grandparents on both sides. The family will take Mike home next spring to his final resting place. To email expressions of sympathy: ccl@hffs.com, subject heading: Michael Stengler.
