It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes Bernadette Farrell on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Christina (MacKay) Farrell.
Bernadette was a devoted member of St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay and an active member of the CWL for nearly 40 years.
Bernadette operated a hairdressing shop on King Edward Street for many years; and recently resided at Valley View Complex.
She is survived by her sisters, Katherine (Daniel) Sullivan, Glace Bay, and Judy (Rod) MacDonald, Truro; sisters-in law, Florence Farrell, Glace Bay, and Doris Farrell, California; many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her very dear friend, Shirley Traboulsee.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Leo (in infancy), Tommy (2007), Wayne (2008) and Jimmy (2005).
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Burial with her parents in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Bernadette’s memory may be made to palliative care or charity of choice.
