It is with a great sense of loss that we announce the death of Joseph Roderick Allan Campbell. Surrounded by his siblings, Joe died peacefully after a very short illness. His death occurred at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Sunday, August 28, 2011.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Mary Margaret (MacDonald) Campbell and John Neil Campbell and his sister, Eileen Smith.
He is survived by his five sisters, Agnes, CND, Sydney, Teresa (Andrew) Arsenault, Howie Centre, Mary Margaret (Robert) MacKinnon, Mira, Carmelita Rahey, North Sydney, Patricia (Terry) Moore, Riverview, NB; his three brothers, John (Barbara), Sydney, James, Mira, Roderick (Mary), Sydney.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Until Joe's retirement, he worked for the Department of Education, Halifax.
He was an active member of the Prostate Cancer Support Group.
Visitation for the late Joseph Campbell will be held Tuesday, August 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pier Community Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 31 at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Light refreshment will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home in the reception area. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In memory of Joe, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
We are comforted in knowing that Joe is at peace. He will be greatly missed by his siblings and friends. Our lives are better for having had his presence among us.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
