Melvin Corbett
Corbett, Melvin Chesley, 75, of East Village, passed away suddenly at his home on August 26, 2011.
Born in Five Islands, he was the son of the late Jessie (Smith) and Thompson Corbett.
Mel was a retired sheet metal worker/roofer who was employed for many years with Fosco Roofing Ltd. Mel was an avid gardener and fisherman, and died doing something he really enjoyed.
He was predeceased by his wonderful wife Mary (Adams), and is survived by his children Wendy (Tony) Rushton, Truro, Wayne and Tom, both of East Village, Lisa (Larry) Corbett, Debert, and Stacy (Greg) Corbett of Brentwood.
He is also survived by his pride and joy, whom he enjoyed spending time with each and every one, his grandchildren Melissa (Dave)McNutt, Chris (Shellee) Rushton, Amanda (Chad) Dickson, Spencer Martell, MacKenzie and Jenna Corbett, and his great-grandchildren Tara and Aiden Rushton.
Mel is also survived by sister Connie (Chester) Yorke , and brother Aubrey (Mary)Corbett.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be at Faith Baptist Church in Great Village on Wednesday August 31, 2011 from 7pm-9pm. The funeral will take place on Thursday September 1, 2011 at 2pm at the same location, Pastor Steve Adams officiating.
