ELLS, Marion Kathleen - 89, of Sheffield Mills, Kings County, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by her family. Born in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Florence Rand. She had a strong, deep-rooted faith and was an active member of First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Canard, where she had been a member of the choir and was a strong supporter of her community. She taught school and enjoyed spending time with children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and playing games. Her favorite season was winter, when she enjoyed snowmobiling and a good snow storm. Her summers were spent at the family cottage in Halls Harbour. She also enjoyed camping and was an avid reader. She aimed to please anyone and everyone. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Dean) Keizer, Glenmont; Diane Ells, Kentville; three sons, Gary (Ethel), Kentville; Bob (Sandra) and Graham (Heather), both of Sheffield Mills; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, A. Laurie Ells; a sister, Eleanor; a brother, Eustace; a grandson, Mitchell; a great grandson, Kyle. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor Peter Lohnes officiating. A private family burial took place in the Jaw Bone Corner Cemetery, Canard. Donations in memory may be made to the First Cornwallis Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
