BURNAY: Roy Jerry of Swift Current, SK formerly of Ponteix, SK, age 70, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2009 at the Palliser Care Centre. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and son. Roy is survived by his wife, Helene (Thibault), his children, Julie-Anne Burnay - Saskatoon; Deanna Drabiuk (Terry) - Sherwood Park; Paul Burnay (Susan Wotypka) - Swift Current; Annette Klevgaard (Greg) - Swift Current; Patricia Shinkewski (Dean) - Saskatoon and 8 grandchildren, Alyx & Rio Drabiuk, Brendon & Ryan Burnay, Kirstie & Kenedee Klevgaard, Tristen & Samantha Shinkewski; brother Henry Burnay (Lois) of Mossleigh, AB.Roy was predeceased by his parents, Lucie & Henri Burnay; brothers, Emile, George, Alex, Wilfred, Roger, Rene, Richard; sisters, Lena, Lydia and Adeline. Roy was born on the family farm at Fife Lake, SK on January 6, 1939. He attended school at Fife Lake Rural School, Teacher's College in Moose Jaw and completed his degree at the University of Calgary. He began his teaching career in Ponteix where he met and then married his wife Helene in 1961. Roy was a respected School Teacher and Administrator of Ponteix Public School for 30 years. He retired from teaching in 1990 and in 1994 moved to Swift Current. He will be dearly missed by his family. Sincere thanks to all those who cared for Roy and those who have given support to his family. The Resurrection Service was held at 2:00 PM, October 5, 2009 at Christ the Redeemer Parish with Father Satiadas Antony officiating. The organist was Marlene Dolter accompanied by the Catholic Church Choir. the interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. The eulogist was Dale Burnay, readers were Tanya Sabourin and Richard Thibault. An Honor Guard was formed by members of the Knights of Columbus. The pallbearers were Tyler Burnay, Michael Burnay, Kevin Thibault, Mike Forget, Terry Loucks and Murray Thibault. The honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in Roy's life. Memorial donations may be made to the Christ the Redeemer Building Fund, Canadian Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
