NEW GLASGOW – Mary Theresa Smith, age 84, of the Glen Haven Manor and formerly of Tremont St., New Glasgow, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 in the Manor.
Born in Dominion, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Hannah Jean Timmons.
She worked at the V-Filling Station for many years. She was a member of Saint Georges Anglican Church and the ACW and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34 where she was a past Vice President. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by daughter, Theresa (Fred) Reid, New Glasgow; sons, Robert (Charlene) Smith, New Glasgow; Allan (Helen) Smith, Bridgeville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Lewis, Halifax.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Smith; brothers, John and Lionel.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday in Saint Georges Anglican Church with Rev. Mark Pretty officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
