George Edwards
Edwards, George Walter, age 64 of Swift Current, Sk, passed away August 21, 2011 at Swift Current. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011 from Trailview Alliance Church, Swift Current, Sk with Reverend Bonita Chad officiating. The pianist was Marilyn Ginter and the Life Tribute was presented by Larry Mitchell and Devin Edwards. The Ushers were Allen Kurtz, Jeffrey Laverdiere, Dale Hommie and Brandon Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in George's life. George was born in Melfort, Sk on April 19, 1947. He attended school in Melfort and also at the University of Saskatchewan. He married Judy Paulson on December 11, 1971 in Yorkton and parted ways in July of 1991. George was the owner and operator of Swift Current Steel. He was a member of the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce, Elmwood Golf Club, The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #56 and numerous charitable organizations. He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, stamp collections, Swift Current Steelers and making children happy. George was a hard working family man, who provided the upmost for his children. His heart was as big as the man was and no matter where you came from or who you were George was always there to lend a hand. George is survived by his daughter Shari Edwards; daughter Crystal (Douglas) Bourque and their children Kaydence and Ahria; son Devin Edwards and Jessie Brown; sisters; Laberta (Peter) MacIntosh; Carrie (Larry) Mitchell; Norma (Keith) Edel; brother Dean (Tammy) Edwards; nieces and nephews Karen (Greg) Tyacke; Kim (D.J.) Fitch; Lori and Rob MacIntosh; Kristen Edel and Ty and Ryan Edwards. He was predeceased by his parents Wally and Hellen Edwards. George will be sadly missed but fondly remember by his family and friends. In his memory, memorial donations may be made to Swift Current Kids Sport or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #56.
