We regret to announce the passing of Louis Burton Murphy, 60, of Florence, on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Florence on Nov. 1, 1950, he was the son of the late Jack and Eunice (MacDonald) Murphy.
Burton had a great love of the outdoors, riding his motorbike, hunting in the Highlands, and taking long drives in the country. He was a truck driver for many years, and worked at Prince Mine, retiring after an injury. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed having great conversations with his good neighbours Archie Osmond and Troy Fraser, and his lifetime friend, Mark Rendell.
Burton is survived by his companion and best friend, Betty Rendell; daughters, Bernadette (Charlie) Johnson, Sydney Mines and Diane, at home; sons, John, Ottawa, Lewis (Lisa), Halifax and Wayne (Pat) Rendell, Edmonton; grandsons, Tyler and Nick Johnson and Avery and Alex Rendell. Also left to mourn are his sister, Dianne (Fred) Buller; brother, Fred (Betty) Murphy and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Wayson and his pets, Babie and Kramer.
At the families' request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service celebrating Burton’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northside Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
