On Monday, October 5, 2009, Mr. Alexander Clifford Backmeyer of Kamloops passed away at the age of 80.
Alec was born in Vibank, Sask. on February 5, 1929. He was married in Prince George to Lorrie Block on December 28, 1953. The couple then moved to Kamloops to raise their family.
Alec was a long time employee of the City of Kamloops. He was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, Kamloops Food Bank, RIH Foundation Society, St. Vincent DePaul Society and many other worthy causes.
He is survived by his wife Lorrie and their four children: Mark (Nancy), Lawrence (Lana), Therese (Lyle) Blakley, Bernadette (Jim) Krenz and 11 grandchildren: Patrick (Lyndsey), Odessa, Matthew, Travis, Michael, Sydney, Deryn, Kelsa, Jarrad, Bradon and Devon.
He also leaves to cherish his memory, his brother Jerry (Tee), and his sisters Rita (Art) and Leona (Art).

Prayers will be held on Friday, October 9th, at 7:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Cathedral on Saturday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m.
