Enid P. Adelson (nee Goodyear)
85, of Princeton. NJ, died on August 15, 2011, at Stonebridge, a Continuing Care Retirement Community near Princeton. Enid was born in Lumsden, Bonavista Bay but grew up in St. John’s, where she attended Prince of Wales College. She will be remembered by many as “Aunt Betty” the hostess of the popular children’s program on radio CJON in the early 1950’s. After her marriage Enid moved to the United States where she lived in Michigan, Ohio and Princeton, NJ.. She also greatly enjoyed a 3 year residence in London, England. Enid had an interesting and productive working life at Princeton University where she retired in 1988 as the Asst. Manager of the Princeton University Concerts Office. She derived her greatest enjoyment from family and friends, singing with choral groups, reading, and playing bridge. Enid was the daughter of the late Nathan and Emma Goodyear and sister of the late Nancy Wecks and of the late Jethro Goodyear. She is survived by her husband, Stan Adelson of Stonebridge, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. She is also survived by two brothers, John Goodyear of Dartmouth, NS, and Harvey Goodyear of St. John’s as well as nine nieces and five nephews.
