McDonald, Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Aylward — 92, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, joining her beloved husband Ken. Living on in the hearts of her children Susan (Chuck), and David (Susan); adored grandmother of Tommy and Billy. She is survived by her two sisters, Ann and Joan, and many nieces and nephews. Gerry grew up in Falmouth, and following graduation from Acadia University, worked at the Town of Windsor as the Town Clerk. She lived with her family in Nanaimo, B.C., Ottawa, Athens, Greece and Rome, Italy. Upon returning to Canada she worked for Industry Trade and Commerce and then the Textile Institute. Along with her husband Ken, she owned Blackburn Home Hardware from 1982-2002. Gerry was a loving soul who touched many with her thoughtfulness and generosity. In most recent years, she enjoyed her outings to the Olde Forge, Churchill Community Centre, her evenings playing cards and the social activities with friends at Ambleside II. She will be greatly missed by many, most of all her family. A memorial gathering was held at Pinecrest Chapel in Ottawa on August 19. Online condolences may be made to www.colefuneralservices.com.
