Aged 77 years; wonderful husband, father, “Grandfather” and friend; passed peacefully away at home in the presence of his children on Monday, August 29th. Predeceased by his wife, Marina, “my beauty” in 2004; brother, Frank, and sister, Joan; mother-in-law, Irene Gray. Left with precious memories are his children: Jeffrey (Carol); Jennifer (Craig Matthews); Joanne (Blair Loveless); grandchildren: Bradley, Nicholas, Andrew, Heidi, Christopher, Sarah, and Allyson. Very special sister-in-law, Mary, and husband Bill Coffen; sister-in-law, Mary Dyke; brothers-in-law: George Clarke (Emily); Lloyd Clarke (Janet), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends from a lifelong career in broadcasting with the CBC. Wilf grew up in St. John’s and was an avid outdoorsman and advocate for the environment. Some of his fondest memories were of days fishing with his father ‘up to Mahers’ and the many trips to Gambo Pond with his buddies. At Wilf’s request cremation has taken place. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Wednesday, August 31st, from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. Service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Barrett’s Chapel.
