On the morning of August 26, 2011, Clarence Spady, age 87, went home to be with the Lord. Clarence, son of the late John and Lydia Spady, was born in Waldeck, SK on March 2, 1924. He grew up on the farm and loved the time he spent there , which was most of his life, until his retirement. He also drove School Bus during his farming years. Clarence married Mavis Schreiner on November 6, 1968, in Swift Current, SK and became father to Darral and Patti. After his retirement, he drove bus for the Swift Current Abilities Center. Clarence loved to play banjo and saxophone and was involved with the Prairie View Orchestra for a number of years. He enjoyed woodworking, watching the Broncos, Roughriders and also curling. In Clarence’s earlier years, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, boating and taking the kids skiing. He loved his family dearly and had a very special place in his heart for his grandsons. Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mavis; his son, Darral (Margaret) of South Surrey, BC: his grandsons, Jason of Swift Current, SK and Kirk of Taichung, Taiwan; his daughter, Patti (Mike) Horn of Red Deer, AB: his grandsons, Jachin and Jarrin; a sister, Francis Meyer; a nephew, Daun Spady; sisters-in-law, Barb Wiens of High River, AB and Audrey (Jack) Monkman of Medicine Hat, AB; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Brett (Darral & Margaret’s son) in 1986; parents, John & Lydia; a brother & sister-in-law, Dallas & Lenora Spady; brothers-in-law, Ed Meyer, Martin Haaf, Chester Wiens, Gordon Schreiner; and by his Mother & Father-in-law, Elizabeth & George Schreiner. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 2:00pm from the Full Gospel Church, Swift Current, SK, with Pastor Wendell Quincy officiating. Judy Taylor played the keyboard and Mildred Friesen was the pianist. “What a Day That Will Be” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” were sung by the congregation. Ushers were Roland Loewen, Grant Niefer and Jack Wallace. The Honorary Pallbearers were the following grandsons, Jason Klassen, Jachin Horn, Jarrin Horn and Kirk Spady. The interment was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK, with the following serving as pallbearers, Lyle Hassett, Earl Gehl, Harold Lang, Lloyd Cowan, Cliff Beisel and Jake Friesen. Donations made to the Full Gospel Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of the Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
